This position is responsible for effectively monitoring and utilizing available resources to ensure the organization has access to the materials and shipping yards to meet the expectations our customers.
Ensures the integrity of financial statements through efficient operations and manufacturing and ensures the associated transactions are recorded accurately, timely and completely.
This position is also responsible for ensuring the achievement of department objectives through performance of assigned duties and responsibilities in compliance with the organization's high standards for safety, quality, profitability and customer service.
Essential Duties:
Oversees the execution and reporting of the department's operational duties including Manages, coaches and develops all Shipping teams Ensures appropriate shipping data from various resources, operational reports and formats are collected and inputted correctly Ensures all loads are always stacked according to customer and Sabre guidelines Gives daily work assignments to personnel within the shipping department.
Makes decisions regarding work priorities based on published schedules and conversations with department manager, taking into account his/her knowledge of assigned personnel, individual skills, and existing personnel vacancies Maintains files and records of employee attendance and performance.
Provides daily reports of time and attendance for payroll purposes Based on personal observation and existing reporting systems, evaluates performance of all employees in terms of safety, quality, productivity and attendance.
Initiates training and/or corrective action to correct deficiencies Maintains authorized staffing levels.
When vacancies occur, initiates appropriate documents to get positions filled through internal postings and/or outside hiring.
Interviews candidates and, within prescribed guidelines, selects candidate recommended for each position Communicates regularly with the other department supervisors in person and by telephone.
Attends meetings to exchange information with other supervisors, managers and other employees.
Conducts meetings within his/her department and shift to communicate with subordinates in a group setting Communicates one-on-one with subordinates to keep them informed of their progress and/or opportunities for improvement Interacts with divisional and executive management to identify Shipping process improvements and develops action plans to capitalize on opportunities for improvement Maintains a high degree of integrity with regards to professional behavior and safety, organization and cleanliness in shipping areas of operation Monitors, evaluates and possesses working knowledge of equipment needs of the department including, but not limited to, forklifts, trailers, any other yard materials and office supplies to maximize operational efficiency, minimize downtime and maintain safety Additional duties as assigned Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Shipping Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, along with ERP/MRP manufacturing software Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Able to function independently and also work in a team environment Takes initiative, develops and implements creative and effective solutions to key problems.
Strives for continuous improvement.
Thinks outside the box to solve problems Action-oriented.
Has a bias for action and results Must be able to analyze data and possess acute attention to detail while working in a fast-paced work environment.

Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment exposed to extreme temperatures, including weekends as needed Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials Must be able to perform physical activities that require substantial use of fingers, hands, wrists and arms, such as sitting, typing, picking, pinching, using office equipment and reaching Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds with or without correction.
