Job Description:
Medical Technician Duties:
Monitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered and at change of shift as required by policies and procedures and applicable state/federal regulations.
Monitors over the counter medication supplies.
Coordinates with the Medical Manager when medications are needed.
Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for youths as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable state/federal regulations.
Verifies identity of youth receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
Presents medication to youth and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures, and documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
Observes, records and reports to the administratrive team and youth's medical provider any symptoms and conditions of residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions or medication side effects.
Provides and promotes youth's rights and education during the administration of medications.
Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable state/federal regulations.
Works with medical manager to ensure all youth medical, dental and mental health appointments are made.
Maintains a health binder on each youth containing all required documentation concerning medical, dental and mental health notes from providers.
Position will intervene when youth are engaging in behaviors that are contrary to program rules and encourages youth to comply with program rules in a non-confrontational manner.
Position will be expected to use the behavior management program as a teaching tool.
Position will be required to document all incidents involving youth accidents, injuries, illness, signs of emotional distress, visitors, medications and other information.
Maintains a valid Texas drivers license and insurance.
Completes all data entry and paperwork assigned.
Completes incident reports as necessary.
Arrives at work on time and calls in when absent or lateness is unavoidable and uses Adp as required.
Follows agency protocol when taking off work or calling in sick.
Reports child abuse allegations and emotional or physical abuse of a child according to minimum standards and Creighton Oaks policy and procedures.
Attends staff meetings, mandatory trainings and maintains annual training hours required by licensing.
Works as a professional team player and is respectful to co-worker.
Provides a safe environment for all youth and staff in the Creighton Oaks.
Reports and completes work orders as needed.
Serves on the treatment team for youth.
Sits in with youth monthly medication management meeting and provides doctor information on youths behavior and medications.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent - Certification as a Medical Technician or similar qualification preferred - Experience working in a residential treatment center - Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills - Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures Note:
